| New Face at Hiawatha Insurance Firm
Claire Moye Contributing Writer
There's a new face to go with the new name at SBS Insurance in Hiawatha.
Andrea Groth is the new insurance agent at what used to be DMS Insurance.
Groth, 30, grew up in Manhattan and has prior experience in the insurance industry.
"My dad is in insurance," Groth said. "I worked for his insurance agency in some way since I was 15,"
She went to Kansas State where she majored in accounting. After marrying Hiawatha native Stacy Groth, the couple moved back to Hiawatha in 2005.
Groth started on Sept. 1 as an agent and wants to make the insurance industry a full-time career. She will eventually take over as manager when John Daeschner retires.
SBS bought DMS in January. President Jim Runnenbaum and manager John Daeschner wanted to establish younger agents to keep the business going as well as grow the community of Hiawatha.
SBS is an independent insurance agency offering several companies in the areas of auto, home, life, health and business.
