The Fourth of July is always a special event in Robinson, featuring gathering neighbors and visitors, a stellar fireworks show, parade and ice cream social.

But the true gem of Robinson’s celebration is the annual Nail Keg Derby, a long-running throwback tradition, which for the past five years has been sponsored by Ag Partners, and spectators gathered to cheer on their favorite young drivers as they speed down the small town street.

Ag Partners’ Jessica Neibling, who helped with the event, says she remembers Robinson’s holiday celebration as a local highlight even from her youth.

“Everyone [looks] forward to the Robinson fireworks show held every year,” she said. “Whether you lived in the area or came back to visit, it’s one of those small town traditions that many look forward to…that really embraces the well-known themes of freedom and family.”

This year’s winner was Eli Edwards, driving the Relampago car, with 2nd place going to Shae Dolisi in the Jade Millwrights car. Taking 3rd in the Wabash Warrior was Alex Pyle, while Aiden Gormley helmed the Hiawatha Implement car for the 4th place finish.

Ag Partners wanted to extend a thank you to all of the participants, parents and those who came out to watch the Nail Keg Derby.

Anyone who has a derby car in need of a driver for next year, can contact Ag Partners at 785-742-2196 and they can find a driver.
