A meeting was held last week to make plans for Erik Dylan Day on Saturday, July 13. Serving will start at 5 p.m. with Erik performing some of the songs he has written starting at 5:30 p.m. Erik is looking forward to a nice fun relaxed evening in the park with family and friends. Mark the date on your calendar, bring your lawn chair and enjoy the evening. Volunteers are needed to help with the supper. Our next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13 at the city building. Please plan to attend and help make this a special day for Erik and his family.
Muscotah Outreach met with members, Deanna Higley, Margaret Jacobs, Dolly Wilson and Susan Higley present. It was decided to purchase three roses for the new residents in town who have purchased homes. Those in attendance also agreed to purchase flowers for the barrel in front of the city building downtown. After some discussion it was decided to keep the pop machine but if it is broken into again we may have to get rid of it. Since we have surveillance cameras in the park maybe it would be possible to have some downtown too. Dolly will contact Rainbow to check it out.
Saturday, July 27, there will be an old time ballgame at the park. Playing will be the North Texas Cattlemen from Dallas, TX and the Western BBC of Topeka. The ballplayers use rules from the 1800’s and dress accordingly. Time for the game will be 1 p.m. They have a small selection of uniforms so if anyone would from the area would like to join in, please come early. Ball park food will be available. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the fun. A meeting will be held to make plans this Thursday, June 13 at the community building, following the Erik Dylan meeting. We could use volunteers to make this a success.
If we are going to keep having events in town, we are going to need volunteers. We need new people with new ideas to help. Please help us keep things going.
Just a reminder tickets for a chance to win a one/fourth of donated black Angus beef are still available at the Muscotah Mercantile and in Horton at The Hair Den, Lentz Express, Susan Gordon’s , Horton Thriftshop and Horton Tire. Proceeds from this will allow the Muscotah Cancer Support Group to help local cancer patients with extra expenses for travel to doctor appointments and treatments. The group would like to thank everyone for their help and support and for the meat donation. The drawing will be held Saturday, July 13 at Erik Dylan Day.
Don’t forget Flag Day is Friday, June 14, Father’s Day is Sunday, June 16, and the first day of summer is Friday, June 21. Have a safe and fun week ahead and enjoy the cooler weather. The rain has pretty well stopped for a while and hopefully the farmers are getting their work done. Remember how important our farmers are to our prosperity.
