Members of Alpha Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International held their March meeting at the Morrill Public Library, Hiawatha. Those present were Karen Benson, Lucille Pennel, Sue Miller, and Anne Cash, Hiawatha; Carol Bishop, Axtell; Glenda Torkelson and Carol Bunning, Horton; Joyce Fee, Morrill; Mary Jane Fleming, Seneca; and Betty Gleason, Atchison. Karen, Lucille, and Glenda hosted a light brunch before the program started. B.H. Pennel and Bill Meyer were guests for the brunch and program.
For the program, information about The Ruby Slipper Goat Rescue was presented by Lisa Thompson who was accompanied by the rescue’s goat, Pixie. Some things those present learned were how the rescue started, how equipment is obtained, and how it cares for special needs goats obtained from throughout Kansas and other states.
The chapter business meeting was then chaired by President Carol Bishop. Joyce Fee led the roll call by having each member answer with an unusual childhood pet. At the close of the meeting, Anne Cash provided the inspiration.
