After holding a late-May special meeting to accept the resignation of Horton High School principal Fred Winter, the USD 430 met on Monday evening, and agreed to move current Athletic Director Larry Mills into the principal position, while bumping Nick Dowell into a role as Assistant AD.
The board also voted to accept the resignations of Charice Winter and Rachael Gormley, and approved Lisa Earp to lead the HES summer school program with Tonya Merz leading the JOM summer school. Also approved was paying remaining bills and transferring remaining funds in order to close out the 2018-2019 school year budget.
Superintendent Jason Cline updated the board on stadium and auditorium lighting, saying that stadium lights will be delivered in June, with work beginning in July. Work on the auditorium lights should begin later in July.
The board also approved a new logo, drawn by HHS student Nathan Isaacs. The updated design was presented at the meeting, and with a minor change requested, the board voted to approve paperwork to be drawn up for ownership of the district’s new logo.
