Nicholas Miller

A 19-year-old Hiawatha man entered pleas to two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child in Brown County District Court Monday.

Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill said Nicholas Cortez Miller had previously waived his preliminary hearing on original charges of rape of a 13-year-old girl. Hill said both sentences are “presumed prison sentences under the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines.”

Miller was taken into custody in June 2017 following an investigation by the Hiawatha Police Department and underwent a mental evaluation before being determined competent to stand trial.

Miller is set for sentencing on Monday, Sept. 10 in Brown County District Court and remains incarcerated in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $150,000.
