(The name of the driver has been updated due to a mistake initially reported on the Kansas Highway Patrol report.)
A Muscotah man was killed in an accident Wednesday afternoon in Brown County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Cody Thomas Carson, 24, of Muscotah was driving a 2017 Freightliner semi-truck on Prairie Road, just 1.2 miles east of Racoon Road at 2:30 p.m. when for an unknown reason the vehicle left the roadway to the right into the north ditch.
According to the KHP, the tractor and trailer overturned, struck a culvert and came to rest in the north ditch, at the base of a steep embankment.
Thomas, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died from injuries sustained in the wreck. Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
