Semi accident slows down traffic

Joey May | Hiawatha World

A semi, carrying grain, overturned on US 36 Highway — about 3 miles west of Hiawatha early Friday afternoon. This caused traffic to slow down for several hours while a tractor and another rig were brought in to empty the grain from the downed semi. Traffic was reduced to one way for a short section, while KDOT workers manned signs to control traffic. A Kansas Highway Patrol report on the incident was not available yet on Friday.
