Dear Editor,
This is the definition of “woke” that I believe: Woke means awakened to the needs of others. To be well informed, thoughtful, compassionate, humble, and kind. Eager to make the world a better place for all people. All people.
Using this definition, who was the most woke person ever to walk the face of this earth? Jesus.
I believe parents want the best education they can get for their children. Parents want their children to be taught the truth, at age appropriate levels. Without the truth, how can we improve the quality of life for all people? How can our children succeed in this increasingly competitive world without the truth?
America is a great nation, but not a perfect one. Why? Because we, the people, are not perfect. Throughout our history, and our present time, people have done horrible things, as well as, wonderful marvelous things. We must acknowledge our past and our current reality, good and bad, in order to keep improving. In order to finally reach what our Founders wrote: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
