The Troy High and Middle School Marching Trojans were invited to be one of only a few participants to perform at half time at the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn., at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30.
The Georgia Bulldogs and TCU Horned Frogs are the two teams playing in the Liberty Bowl. Other bands from around the country will join the Marching Trojans as they perform a mass halftime show with the famous Commodores. The Trojans will also compete in a "Battle of the Bands" competition and the annual Liberty Bowl Beale Street Parade, and a concert band clinic prior to the half-time show. The winner of the "Battle of the Bands" will perform their show alone at pre-game of the Liberty Bowl in front of thousands of spectators. The Beale Street Parade can be watched live at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29 at www.localmemphis.com.
The Marching Trojans have been doing various fundraisers to help them with the costs of going to the bowl game. They have also been practicing many hours before, during and after school to prepare for all of the events they will be participating in.
