Bid to repair Horton Senior Citizens Building passed

The Brown County commissioners voted 2-1 on a bid to insure to repair of the Horton Senior Citizens Building during Monday morning’s county meeting.

The bid cost to insure the repairs of the senior citizen building was $4,460.99. Brown County Commissioners Richard Lehmkuhl and Lamar Shoemaker voted in favor of the motion, while Commissioner William Pollock voted against it, citing insurance concerns.

The commissioners also sat down to discuss 2025 health insurance rates for Brown County employees. Lehmkuhl and Shoemaker voted to approve the 2025 health insurance rates, but Pollock voted against the motion citing cost concerns.

Below are some other items that were discussed during the meeting:

• The commissioners and Road and Bridge Secretary Tami Lehmkuhl spoke about the OS-2 bridge and if it should be placed on a historical register.

• All commissioners voted to approve a Gordon C.P.A. letter.

• All commissioners voted to approve Brown County Extension Council documents.

• All commissioners voted to approve a Quarterly Tonnage Report.
