The Brown County commissioners approved the 2025 salary pay scale submitted to them by Brown County Sheriff John Merchant of the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. Commissioner Richard Lehmkuhl and Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill attended the meeting through a Zoom call.
The pay scale that was accepted would be an increase for the Sheriff’s Office.
Discussion of CDBG and housing development update report
The commissioners also discussed a community development block grant for the Northeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging; an architect recommendation was approved on Sept. 18 by the commissioners for a NEKAAA-related project. The commissioners would need to sign the contract for the CDBG agreement. All three commissioners passed a motion to sign the contract. All commissioners also voted to approve the U.S. Department of Housing Urban Development Update report.
Other items of discussion
• All commissioners approved a KWorks invoice for $39,828.
• The commissioners passed a motion to approve Resolution 2024-14, which involved title work to be completed for a tax sale. The signature page for the country to bring tax foreclosure was also approved by all commissioners.
