The season has come to an end for the Hiawatha Red Hawks, as the team traveled to Hayden High School in Topeka for a rematch in the opening round of the Kansas Class 3A State Football Tournament.

Lady Red Hawks run 7th at State meet
Saturday marked the final race of the season for the Hiawatha cross country team, and the Lady Red Hawks did not disappoint, as the team finishing seventh as a squad, including one individual top 10 result at the Class 3A State meet at Lawrence’s Rim Rock Farm.Sophomore Pauly Rockey continued her outstanding season, finishing ninth in the biggest meet of the season, with a time of 20:01.2.

Hiawatha resident protests against voting machines
A Hiawatha resident made a public comment protesting voting machines at the Brown County Courthouse at the beginning of Monday’s Brown County commission meeting.During the early portion of the meeting, Hiawatha resident Virgil Hallauer spoke up to protest against the decision made previously by the commission to purchase new voting machines.
