Halley’s Comet returns in 2061

Perhaps many of us are old enough to remember the arrival of Halley’s Comet in 1986. This famous comet makes its way to earth only once every 76 years. On Dec. 8, 2023, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, Halley’s comet reached its aphelion, the far end of its orbit. At this point, Halley’s Comet was 3.27 billion miles from the sun. At this point, it began its 38 year journey back toward the sun.

At last! The weather is beautiful at the Horton Senior Center. Activities have resumed and it is great to get out and enjoy some companionship.

Senior Moments

It has been a long and quiet week for the members of the Horton Senior Center due to the snow and extreme cold. Being cautious and avoiding any possible accidents we have been staying at home! Our monthly carry in dinner is postponed till Feb. 25 and also all of our activities this week have been put on hold till next week when the weather is supposed to be much warmer. The quote from Proverbs 27:9 states that a sweet friendship refreshes the soul. Missing all our friends this week!

Senior Moments

Many of the members of the Horton Senior Center have been staying at home most of this week due to weather conditions and severe cold. Groundhog! Why did you betray us!! Cabin fever is setting in again. We were able to meet on Feb. 11th for our board meeting and coffee group.
