Bulldogs bully Hawks as Hiawatha shut out on the road

A back and forth battle that was decided late in week one for the Hiawatha Red Hawks gave way to a much different result this week, as the Hawks hit the road once again, this time running into a buzzsaw of a Marysville team and coming home with a 38-0 loss.A week after the Bulldogs upset defending State champion Nemaha Central, Marysville did not look dominant in the early going of Friday night’s game, as the Red Hawk defense played well in the first half, standing up the Dogs on fourth down to turn Marysville over on their first drive.

Horton man sentenced to 10 years in prison for rape in Brown County

A 21-year old Horton man was sentenced this week to 10 years in prison after his conviction in a 2023 rape and aggravated kidnapping case, according to an article from WIBW. Matthew Harris, the man sent to prison, will be placed “on life-time post-release supervision following his release from prison.” He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.
