The Hiawatha Red Hawks Boys Basketball (9-11, 5-5) season came to an end Friday night. They lost to the Osage City Indians (13-7, 6-4) in the first round of Sub State. The game was played in Osage City. The final score was 68-59.
February’s character word of the month was Kindness.
The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk Forensics Team competed at the Marysville forensics meet on Saturday, Feb. 22, with different team members making different placements. This match was a quick turnaround compared to the Royal Valley, where the Red Hawk team members did not make any placements.
The Hiawatha Red Hawks (8-10, 4-5) lost to the Riverside [Wathena-Elwood] Cyclones (13-5, 10-2) on Friday night. The game was played in Elwood. The final score was 57-48.
The Hiawatha Junior High School Red Hawk Scholar’s Bowl team placed at both meets that took place at Sabetha on Friday, Feb. 14 and Monday, Feb. 17.
The Hiawatha Red Hawks (8-9, 4-5) lost at Sabetha (10-7, 6-4) on Tuesday night. The final score was 63-38.

The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk Scholar’s Bowl team finished their season by competing at the Regional Scholar’s Bowl meet at Silver Lake on Thursday, Feb. 6, where the varsity team placed fifth among the 16 teams from northeast Kansas present at the event.
