On Tuesday, Aug. 12, the day before school started, a delegation of the Hiawatha Lions Club welcomed, thanked and passed out teacher appreciation gifts to the new teachers in the district. The gifts were red cups filled with candy and coupons to use at local businesses. The Lions hope to make the new teachers feel welcomed and a part of the community. By showing such kindness, the Lions hope these new teachers will want to stay in our community long term and continue to serve our children. For those teachers whom the Lions couldn’t catch in their rooms, they left the gift that had a note in it indicating it was from the Lions Club.
Morrill Days happened in the town of Morrill again on Saturday, Aug. 9. This event is a celebration that took place for over 150 years and even saw more visitors and vendors than last year.
