Lady Red Hawks Drop Two To Holton

The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks were at home last Thursday night. They played a double header against the Holton Lady Wildcats. The Lady Red Hawks were hoping to turn the corner in the season with a victory. The Lady Wildcats came into the contest on a nice streak of winning three of their last four games. The Lady Red Hawks struggled to score runs against the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Wildcats pitching was exceptional. The ball seemed to be very alive and found the strike zone with regularity. The Lady Red Hawks could only muster six hits for the game. They also stranded three of those runners on base. The Lady Wildcats combined numerous base hits with minimal fielding errors to run away with the game. The final score was 2-13 in favor of the Lady Wildcats. A bright spot in the game was Michaela Williams who went 2-for-3, with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Doniphan West Track Team Shines at Home and Away Meets

The Doniphan West High School Mustangs had a standout week on the track, delivering powerful performances at two key meets. The team first competed at their home invitational at Highland Community College on Tuesday, April 29, and followed it up with another strong showing at St. Marys on Friday, May 2. Multiple athletes placed in the top three, with several personal and season records set.
