
Red Hawk Boys Play Well At Perry-Lecompton

Freshman Brynnan Boye started pitching for the Lady Red Hawks in the first game. The game saw both teams very aggressive from the plate. The ball was flying all over the field. The Lady Red Hawks had runners on base and in scoring position on numerous occasions. They ended up leaving eight runs on base in the game. The Lady Red Hawks came up short in the end, by a final score of 2-5. Both teams battled hard on every pitch. The Lady Red Hawks had several opportunities to win. They made several mistakes that ended up costing them the game. There continues to be marked improvements for the Lady Red Hawks. They lost, but played very well. Head Coach Sherri Nelson commented, “We had some nice hits and left the runners stranded out there.”
The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk Varsity Boys’ team competed at the Silver Lake golf meet on Monday. The Red Hawks placed sixth with an overall score of 370 against Santa Fe Trail, St. Marys, Rossville, Silver Lake, Top-Hayden, Osage City, Lyndon and Burlington.
The Doniphan West Junior High School track team delivered an impressive performance at the JCNMS Relays held on Thursday, April 24, in Winchester, Kansas. Several athletes secured top-three finishes across various events, showcasing their dedication.
The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk Track and Field Team competed at Rossville on Friday, April 25. The competition was fierce but both the girls and boys of the Hiawatha team persevered throughout the event.
The Hiawatha Middle School Red Hawks competed at the Sabetha Invitational on Thusday, April 24. The seventh grade Red Hawk boys placed first at the meet, with the Lady Red Hawks’ seventh graders placing second. The Red Hawk Boys’ eighth grade placed fifth and the Lady Red Hawks’ seventh grade placed third.
The Red Hawks played at home Thursday night. They lost both games to the Sabetha Bluejays. The score in game one was 1-2. The final tally in game two was 3-13.

The Hiawatha Red Hawk Track and Field team competed at home Tuesday evening as they competed with Doniphan West, Troy Public Schools, Maur Hill Academy, Nemaha Central and Riverside in a variety of events.
The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk Boys’ Varsity Golf Team competed with 19 other teams at the Nemaha Central Invitational that took place on Tuesday. The Red Hawks faced against Wamego, Sabetha, Maur Hill Mount Academy, Rock Creek, Holton, Jefferson West, Seneca, St. Marys, Perry-Lecompton, Condoria, Horton, Silver Lake, Washington County, Onaga, Clay Center, Rossville, Centralia, Oskaloosa and Frankfort. The competition on the golf course was fierce as the Red Hawks made it to 11th place in terms of team rank at the meet.
