
Red Hawk Scholar’s Bowl varsity team place third at Big East League Scholars Bowl Meet
The Hiawatha Red Hawk Scholar’s Bowl varsity team placed third at Jefferson West at the Big East League Scholars Bowl meet on Monday afternoon.
The Hiawatha Red Hawk Scholar’s Bowl varsity team placed third at Jefferson West at the Big East League Scholars Bowl meet on Monday afternoon.
The Hiawatha Red Hawk Forensics Team took fourth place at the forensics meet held at Sabetha and St. Marys. The Red Hawks placed fourth out of 11 teams.
DWHS has added a new extracurricular opportunity for students: a powerlifting team. Coached by John Paolino, the team’s first meet was held at Lansing, where 611 participants from throughout the state competed.
Doniphan West High School will be having its Winter Royalty crowning on Friday, Jan. 31 during halftime of the boys’ varsity game. The Mustangs will be hosting the Blue Valley Rams.
After dropping the opening game and winning their next contest, the Hiawatha Red Hawks finished in 6th place at the 11th annual Nemaha Central Boys Basketball Tournament. They were defeated Saturday, by the Marysville Bulldogs. The final score was 53-41.
The Hiawatha Red Hawks were in Seneca Tuesday night, to participate in the 11th annual Nemaha Central Boys Basketball Tournament. They were defeated by the home team by a final score of 52-32. Teams joining Nemaha Central and Hiawatha were from Troy, Jackson Heights, St. Mary’s, Holton, Rock Creek and Marysville.

The Wrestling cooperative that includes Hiawatha, Doniphan West and Troy traveled to Maur Hill recently. Schools competing at the meet were Maur Hill, Riverside, Doniphan West, Polo, Nemaha Central, Oskaloosa, Horton and Bishop Ward.
The Mustang wrestling team has attended recent meets at Maur Hill on Thursday, Jan. 16 and St. Mary’s on Saturday, Jan. 18.
USD 415 announced winners of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw, which took place at the Hiawatha Middle School.
