The Doniphan West junior high cross country team kicked off their 2025 season on Saturday, September 6, at the Marysville Country Club in Marysville, Kansas. The Mustangs competed against tough competition and turned in several strong performances.
The Doniphan West Junior High volleyball teams kicked off their 2025 season on Thursday, September 4, at Centralia High School. It was a competitive night of play as the A, B, and C-teams each took the court for their first matches of the season.
The Doniphan West Junior High Mustangs kicked off their 2025 football season on Thursday, September 4, traveling to Centralia High School for their opener. Despite strong effort and determination, the Mustangs fell short against a tough Centralia team, 12–40.
The unseasonably cool weather provided ideal conditions for the Hiawatha Red Hawks’ first home football game. As the players warmed up, there were surely butterflies swarming in their stomachs. The time had come to put all of the hard mental and physical preparation to task. The players were welcomed to the field by the band, cheerleaders, the Hiawatha Hawkettes and many others. Most notably was the 1980 Hiawatha 4A State Football Champions, who were recognized earlier.

The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawk volleyball team hit the ground running this fall season at the Big East League Volleyball Triangular event on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Despite some strong plays from everyone involved, the Red Hawks were defeated by the Holton Wild Cats at 25-12 in both sets and the Perry-Lecompton Kaws at 25-21 in the first set and 25-15 in the second set.

The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk football team traveled to Nemaha Central on Friday, Aug. 29 to participate in a football jamboree.
The Red Hawk football team will be charging onto the field this upcoming fall season. Despite some of the heavy falls they took last year, the Red Hawk team--coached by Wyatt Jiru--are gearing up to take on the upcoming competition starting this upcoming Friday at home versus Royal Valley.
