The Red Hawk Trap Club attended the Kansas Clay Target League State Tournament at the Kansas Trapshooter Association, Sedgwick on June 15. Twenty-one students participated in the event and despite the muddy conditions for the spectators it was a great day.
The Hiawatha Team Swim Team successfully earned first place over the visiting Seneca Swim Team at the Hiawatha Aquatic Park home meet on Saturday, June 22.
Hiawatha Post 66 lost to Auburn Post 23 by a score of 16-1 on Sunday at Auburn.
The Hiawatha Post 66 Braves senior baseball team had a rematch with the Corning Legion team on Wednesday, June 18. This rematch with the Corning team resulted in a split where Post 66 failed to gain a win in the first half of the game but managed to get the upper hand and win the second half; the first game was 11-16 with the win going to Corning and the second game was 13-6 going to Hiawatha.
The Hiawatha Swim Team competed at the Falls City swim meet on Saturday, June 14. Hiawatha faced off against Marysville and Seneca on that day, Hiawatha scoring a total of 285 in the Boys Team Totals and 465 in the Girls Team Totals, with a combined total of 750 overall; Marysville scored a total of 1,023, Falls City scored 486 and Sabetha scored six. Seneca scored zero at the meet.
Hiawatha Post 66 lost the first game against Seneca Legion on Sunday, June 15. The game was played in Seneca, with the final score being 6-3.
The Hiawatha Braves Post 66 team faced off against the Marysville Post 163 team at home at Noble Park on Wednesday, June 11. Throughout the evening, both teams struggled with several foul balls. Quite a few baseballs also sped out of the ball park and even zipped into the dugout areas, with the announcer saying, “Please and thank you.” Despite this, both Hiawatha and Marysville split with each other score-wise, with Marysville beating Hiawatha in the first game at 7-8 but Hiawatha winning at 8-7, with the combined score being 15-15.
The Hiawatha Swim Team competed at Savannah with the Saint Joseph, MO and Savannah, MO swim teams on Monday, June 9.
The Hiawatha Swim Team dived into this summer swimming season by competing with Marysville on Saturday, June 7.
Hiawatha Post 66 beat the Corning Legion 13-9, in the first game on Sunday.
