Connie Sue (Anderson) King 74, died on July 27, 2025. She was born, the first of three children to Luther and Betty (Stoffer) Anderson, on Independence Day, July 4, 1951. Connie was premature, and she was the first baby to use the incubator at the NEW Hiawatha Community Hospital. She and her siblings grew up on the family farm, south of Robinson, she was baptized and confirmed at Upper Wolf Lutheran Church, attended Robinson Grade and High Schools, and graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1969. Connie attended Highland Community College where she met Jerry Yingling, and they were later married.
Their son, Justin Lyle Yingling was born while they lived in the Chicago area, and later moved to St. Charles, MO, where Connie worked at Lambert International Airport in the Air Express Dept. Connie met and married Woody King in 1991. In 1996, they moved to Hiawatha, KS, to be closer to Connie’s parents and family. Connie continued her airline profession, making the drive to MCI, outside of Kansas City, and again working with Burlington-Northern in Air Express until she retired in 2010.
After retirement, Connie enjoyed working and making friends at Metzger Eyecare, Hiawatha Thriftway and later, at the Horton Thriftway. She enjoyed traveling with her sister Nancy, and also loved riding along with Woody in his Commercial Trucking semi across the US, and enjoying yearly Balloon Festivals in the Albuquerque, NM area.
And, Connie loved animals, especially her coal-black cat, Abby Sue ! When she visited son Justin, and Lucy in Clearfield, UT, and as a Member of Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, the largest no-kill sanctuary in the US, Connie volunteered with Justin and Lucy at Best Friends. Survivors of Connie include son Justin Lyle (Lucy), sister Nancy (Anderson) Rockey Thomas, nephews Brady and Bryan Rockey, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Proceeding Connie are her husband, Woody King, her parents Luther and Betty Anderson, and her younger brother Dennis Neal Anderson.
A Graveside Memorial Service for family and friends will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha KS, in November, 2025 when son Justin and Lucy arrive in Hiawatha.
