Frances Louise Collins

Frances Louise Collins, 84 of Highland, Kansas, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at her home in Highland. She was born on June 15, 1940, in Pattonsburg, Missouri the daughter of Daniel and Sarah (Groomer) Hoover.

Frances worked for the Highland School District as a cook for many years and enjoyed her job feeding the kids and always making sure there was plenty of food, so they didn’t go away hungry. She was a member of the Highland Christian Church and the Dozen and Half Club. Frances loved caring and taking care of her children and grandchildren, crocheting, and watching sporting events especially KU Basketball and Duke Basketball.

On September 21, 1957, she married Daniel Eugene Collins. Survivors include her husband, Dan, three daughters, Christina Reams, Dana (Duane) Herrington, and Teresa Collins, two sons, James (Gini) Collins and Steven (Lisa) Collins, Jade Lewis and Lillian Lewis, three brothers, Gordon Hoover, Jimmie Hoover and Ronnie Hoover, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren with one on the way, one great-great-grandchild, beloved niece, Peggy Wagonblast and her friend, sister-in-law, Sharon Collins.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Patsy Haines, Nancy Stokesbury, and Mary Lukehart, four brothers, Jackie Hoover, Harold Hoover, Robert Hoover, and Hank Hoover, and a great-grandson, Ryan Herrin.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Highland Christian Church where the family will greet friends from 9:30 A.M until service time at the church. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Highland Christian Church and may be sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Ks.
