Orinne Alice Schumann, 82, Emporia, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Homestead of Emporia. Orinne Alice Lacy was born on September 28, 1942, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Jack and Agnes (Strobel) Lacy. She married Gerald Lee Schumann in Hiawatha, Kansas, on August 29, 1959. He passed away on July 1, 2016. Surviving family members include her children: Michelle Gavin and husband, Brad, Mike Schumann and wife, Shannon, Dan Schumann and wife, Donna, Gaye Schumann Harden, and Sam Schumann, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as sisters: Agnes Wells and Josephine Bryant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, and son, David. She and her husband, Gerald, came to Emporia in 1966. They started Gerald Schumann Electric in 1975. She was a devout member of Messiah Lutheran Church and had served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years. With the help of her grandchildren and her church community, they canned countless jars of preserves for harvest festivals through the years. Most Christmas, their home was decorated with thousands of lights, hung with her husband, sons, and grandkids. All were welcomed at her home, and she hosted and cooked epic holiday meals. Funeral Services will be at the Messiah Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier of the church. Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery, Emporia. The family will receive friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, on Friday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M.
