Richard Tesoriero of Hiawatha was officiated as the new District 1 Commissioner before Monday afternoon’s Brown County Commissioner meeting on Oct. 20, with Richard Tesoriero’s wife--Pamela Tesoriero--being present during the swear-in ceremony.

The incoming District 1 commissioner met with the other members of the Brown County Commission on Monday morning.

Hiawatha resident Richard Tesoriero was elected the new Brown County District 1 commissioner on Sunday evening during the GOP Convention held at the Carwell Building.

A Brown County employee was recognized for his 11 years of service during Tuesday morning’s county commission meeting.

The Brown County commission passed a motion to approve the proposed 2026 budget as presented during Monday morning’s meeting.

Brown County Commissioner Richard Lehmkuhl announced that he would resign from the Brown County District 1 Commissioner position at the end of the meeting that took place on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The Brown County commission also passed submitting the 2026 budget to Galva-based Loyd Group for the finalization process during Monday morning’s meeting on Sept. 15.

The Brown County commission met with Scot Loyd of Galva-based Loyd Group, LLC. via Zoom call to discuss the 2026 budget during Monday morning’s meeting. Members of the Hiawatha Foundation for Economic Development were also present during the meeting.

Citizens from Hiawatha and the rest of Brown County attended two meetings in person hosted by the Brown County commission.
