Brown County Commissioner Richard Lehmkuhl announced that he would resign from the Brown County District 1 Commissioner position at the end of the meeting that took place on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The Brown County commission also passed submitting the 2026 budget to Galva-based Loyd Group for the finalization process during Monday morning’s meeting on Sept. 15.
The Brown County commission met with Scot Loyd of Galva-based Loyd Group, LLC. via Zoom call to discuss the 2026 budget during Monday morning’s meeting. Members of the Hiawatha Foundation for Economic Development were also present during the meeting.
Citizens from Hiawatha and the rest of Brown County attended two meetings in person hosted by the Brown County commission.
The Brown County commission met with over forty county residents in the Brown County District Court about the revenue neutral rate (RNR) and 2026 budget on Monday morning. Scot Loyd of Galva-based Loyd Group was present during during the hearings to help explain aspects about the RNR and the budget to those speaking at the podium and to the rest of the public present.
