The Brown County Genealogical Society was chartered in June 1997 by first president and founder Lyle Hinz. In 1999 we moved into our present building at 116 S 7th Street, Hiawatha with just a small amount of genealogy resources. Over the years we have grown our collection and we now house information from several surrounding communities, family histories that have been donated, funeral pamphlets, death notices from area papers and much more.
