The Hiawatha Police Department has a strong commitment to providing top-notch service to the community. Thanks to our dedicated team of full-time officers and staff. The department is composed of nine full-time officers, a Supervisor of Department Operations and a Municipal Court Clerk. Specific roles in the department include: Chief, Captain, Sergeant, Investigator, School Resource Officer and Code Enforcement Officer, in addition to the regular Patrol Officers. It is because of the various roles and positions the Department continues to strengthen its relationship with the public with exceptional service and effective community engagement and provides a crucial role in upholding law and order in the community.

HIAWATHA, KS — Amberwell Hiawatha has been recognized for excellence in both patient experience and clinical care, receiving a prestigious 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and three national achievement awards from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Hometown Heroes: Hiawatha Fire Department
The Hiawatha Volunteer Fire Department has been in service for over 100 years, serving Hiawatha and the surrounding community. The Fire Department is located at 411 Oregon Street.

Hometown Heroes: Brown County Rescue Squad
Brown County Rescue Squad 48 and its volunteer members aim to serve and protect the citizens of Brown County and also provide mutual aid to other counties if needed.
