The Board of Education of the Brown County Kansas Special Education Interlocal #615 held its regular October Board of Education meeting at 6:00 p.m. on October 1, 2025 at the Special Education Annex in Hiawatha.

Think Pink, a breast cancer awareness event, will be taking place at the Amberwell Lobby on Wednesday, Oct. 15.

The United States Postal Service has announced a new service called Every Door Direct Mail, where businesses can target specific neighborhoods and deliver their message directly to every mail box. No mailing list is needed.



Amberwell Hiawatha and Community Blood Center will host its Blood Drive event on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

The Maple Leaf Car Show once again took place during the Maple Leaf Festival this year.

The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks gave their fans plenty to cheer about Tuesday evening as they hosted a triangular with the Sabetha Lady Bluejays and the St. Marys Lady Bears. With a blend of aggressive offense, gritty defense, and unmatched hustle, the Red Hawks played some of their best volleyball of the season and walked away with a clean 2-0 record on the night. The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks displayed excellent passing, setting, spiking, digging, blocking and spent a lot of time on the floor diving for balls. Those in attendance, especially the student section, were extremely enthusiastic.
