The Hiawatha High School Track and Field Team competed at the Royal Valley track meet on Tuesday, April 29.
Due to a scheduling conflict, the Morrill Public Library’s free program “Tech Topics,” has been moved from May 6 to May 13, still at noon in the large meeting room.
The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks lost to the Sabetha Lady Bluejays on Thursday, April 24 during the home game in Hiawatha. Still, the Lady Red Hawks played hard and kept battling all night against the Bluejays.
The Brown County commission unanimously voted to approve a property agreement for a rally to take place at the Brown County Courthouse on Thursday morning.
The city commission passed a motion allowing fireworks in Hiawatha on July 3 from noon to 8 p.m. on a trial basis during Monday evening’s meeting on a 3-2 vote.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind county residents about the following protocol when a Tornado Warning is issued for Brown County, and hopefully answer any concerns the public may have. One main focus of mine will always be the safety and well being of every person in our county.
I really don’t like name calling or labels which are put on people. One of those labels, or name-callings that really bothers me is when we call the Disciple Thomas (in the Bible), “Doubting Thomas”, in a negative, judgmental way.
April’s character word of the month was Perseverance. Grade level teachers chose one boy and one girl who showed the characteristics of Perseverance. Students received a certificate, a $5 gift card to the Hiawatha Creamery and a Red Hawk character kids t-shirt!
