The monthly meeting of the NEK Friends of Hospice Volunteers was held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, at the Horton Office. Those in attendance were President Rosemary Schooler, Vice President Alisa Britt, Secretary Betty Robison, Donna Bottom, Charlene Branch, Nancy Burns, Terri Watkins, and Volunteer Coordinator Michelle Bottom.

After dropping the opening game and winning their next contest, the Hiawatha Red Hawks finished in 6th place at the 11th annual Nemaha Central Boys Basketball Tournament. They were defeated Saturday, by the Marysville Bulldogs. The final score was 53-41.

Second Harvest is providing food assistance this winter.

The Hiawatha Music Club will present its yearly concert on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Hiawatha at 410 Hiawatha Avenue. It is free and open to the public.
