Hiawatha saw its share of Easter egg hunts on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19 in several spots where children make a rush to find brightly colored eggs filled with treats, and with the Easter Bunny being busy making multiple appearances in two days.

The Brown County 4-H Council met on Monday, April 7th at the Brown County Courthouse. President Sarah Brady called the meeting to order at 7:02pm. Sarah led members in the Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H Pledge.

USD 415 schools were closed on Monday but for USD 415’s teachers and staff, Monday was a staff development day where teachers and staff members met at Hiawatha High School for professional development.
The Hiawatha Red Hawk Track and Field team competed at home Tuesday evening as they competed with Doniphan West, Troy Public Schools, Maur Hill Academy, Nemaha Central and Riverside in a variety of events.
The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk Boys’ Varsity Golf Team competed with 19 other teams at the Nemaha Central Invitational that took place on Tuesday. The Red Hawks faced against Wamego, Sabetha, Maur Hill Mount Academy, Rock Creek, Holton, Jefferson West, Seneca, St. Marys, Perry-Lecompton, Condoria, Horton, Silver Lake, Washington County, Onaga, Clay Center, Rossville, Centralia, Oskaloosa and Frankfort. The competition on the golf course was fierce as the Red Hawks made it to 11th place in terms of team rank at the meet.
