WICHITA — The Doniphan West High School track and field team closed out its season with strong performances at the KSHSAA State Championships, held May 30–31 at Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University. Several athletes advanced to finals, broke school records, and earned top finishes against the best in Class 2A.
The Doniphan West High School baseball team capped off an impressive season with a strong showing in the Class 2-1A Regional Tournament.
Tanner Veach, a graduate of Doniphan West High School, earned a spot on the 2025 Dean’s List at Drury University.
WINCHESTER, KANSAS — The Doniphan West High School track and field team performed excellently at the Class 2A Regional Meet held Thursday, May 22, at Jefferson County North High School. The girls’ team claimed the Regional Championship, and several Mustangs earned the chance to compete at the KSHSAA State Track & Field Championships, set for May 30–31 at Cessna Stadium at Wichita State University.
The Doniphan West High School track and field team turned in another strong showing at the Twin Valley League Track Meet on Thursday, May 15, at Washington County. The girls’ team placed fourth overall, and the boys earned ninth, as several Mustangs hit personal records and delivered top finishes across a variety of events.
The Doniphan West High School track and field team continued its strong spring season with outstanding performances at the Nemaha Central Invitational on May 6 and the Jefferson County North Invitational on May 9. Across both meets, the Mustangs tallied numerous top finishes and set two new school records.
Doniphan West pulled off a thrilling 21-20 walk-off victory over Valley Heights on Monday, April 28. With the game tied in the bottom of the seventh, Jaidyn Smith singled to drive in the winning run.
DWHS varsity Mustangs held off a late surge to secure a 9-7 win over ACCHS on Saturday, May 3. The Mustangs built a five-run lead by the third inning and stayed ahead despite a strong comeback attempt.
The Doniphan West High School Mustangs had a standout week on the track, delivering powerful performances at two key meets. The team first competed at their home invitational at Highland Community College on Tuesday, April 29, and followed it up with another strong showing at St. Marys on Friday, May 2. Multiple athletes placed in the top three, with several personal and season records set.
