Homelessness has always been an issue. It is a problem for which there is no easy solution and there are many ideas for combating homelessness around the world. Some places, Finland for example, provide an apartment for those facing a lack of housing. This allows the person to have a safe place to live while they seek stability. Unfortunately, the current administration in this country seems intent on criminalizing homelessness and dehumanizing those who find themselves in such a desperate situation.
One of the many freedoms for which I am grateful in this country is the freedom of religion.
First Baptist Church will host a water fight on Saturday, July 12. This event will be open to the whole community and it will be full of water attractions, games, a free hot dog meal and more.
I recently finished a series preaching through the Sermon on the Mount. This section in Matthew’s Gospel has some of the highest standards Christians are supposed to live up to. Of course, I don’t have the space in this brief article here to expound on the entire Sermon on the Mount.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” The author of Hebrews makes this statement (11:1 NIV) just before giving us a Who’s Who list of the faithful of the Old Testament. We cannot see God, but we can see what God has created. Of course, believing that everything around us was created by God is an act of faith itself.
