The Kansas Art Education Association (KAEA) has selected Danielle Dierenfeldt, Hiawatha Elementary School Principal, to receive a 2025-26 Art Enhancer Award. The award will be officially presented at the KAEA Fall Conference on Friday October 10 in Hiawatha Kansas.
Hiawatha Elementary School students and their families were greeted by a rubber chicken. HES teachers and staff--as well as USD 415 Superintendent Lonnie Moser and a giant blue elephant--met with students coming in as music was playing in the background.
April’s character word of the month was Perseverance. Grade level teachers chose one boy and one girl who showed the characteristics of Perseverance. Students received a certificate, a $5 gift card to the Hiawatha Creamery and a Red Hawk character kids t-shirt!
March’s character word of the month was Courage.

The USD 415 Board of Education met on Monday evening to meet with a representative from investment bank and financial services company Piper Sandler about bond options and information for the Hiawatha school system and what financial information would look like in the school district’s near future.
