Saturday marked the final race of the season for the Hiawatha cross country team, and the Lady Red Hawks did not disappoint, as the team finishing seventh as a squad, including one individual top 10 result at the Class 3A State meet at Lawrence’s Rim Rock Farm.Sophomore Pauly Rockey continued her outstanding season, finishing ninth in the biggest meet of the season, with a time of 20:01.2.

The Sabetha Golf Course was the setting of this year’s local Class 3A cross country Regional, as teams from across the corner of the state converged to attempt to qualify for next Saturday’s State Meet in Lawrence.

The Hiawatha Red Hawk cross country team took part in the Sabetha Invitational on Thursday afternoon--their final race of the regular season.

The Red Hawk cross country season continues to move as quick as Hiawatha’s runners, with just one final race ahead before the postseason begins, after the team had a successful outing at Thursday’s Perry Lecompton Invitational, held at Hummer Park.The varsity boys team earned a sixth place finish as a group.

Thursday marked the annual Hiawatha Invitational cross country meet, with the Hiawatha Red Hawks running out competitors in all divisions, from the middle school to the high school level.For the seventh grade boys, Braylon Kuehn finished 11th, with Tristan Gibbs in 17th and Kellen Boye in 18th.

There were promising signs at Hiawatha’s opening meet of the cross country season, but in week two, the results were far more than promising, as the girls took first and the boys took third on Thursday at Holton.For the middle school boys, Eastan Sheldon took fourth overall to lead the team, followed by Braylon Kuehn in 29th, Tristan Gibbs in 52nd, and Kellen Boye in 54th for the Red Hawks.
