Friday night’s match up between the Hiawatha Red Hawks and Oskaloosa Bears--the first ever meeting between the two teams as they faced off in a District tilt--started off looking like it would be a slow moving slugfest, but ended as a track meet, as Hiawatha sprinted away from the Bears for a 42-6 win.The first quarter flew by, as the Red Hawks took the opening possession and marched down the field, capping the drive with a Rhen Hageman touchdown to go up 7-0.
The Hiawatha Red Hawks traveled to Topeka on Friday night to kick off a District contest against the state ranked Hayden Wildcats.
Homecoming was a real party in Hiawatha on Friday night, as the team helped the school celebrate in style with a big win over visiting Jeff West to earn their first victory of the season in what was also their first District matchup of the year.The Red Hawks saw a few key players return from injury, which helped the team on both sides of the ball.
Friday night saw the Hiawatha Red Hawks take their home field for the first time this season, welcoming in the Sabetha Blue Jays in a Big East League dust up.
