
Lady Red Hawk golf team end season at 3-2-1A Sub-State
The Hiawatha High School Lady Red Hawk team finished their season at the 3-2-1A Sub-State at Silver Lake taking place at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course on Monday.

The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks headed to Sabetha on Saturday for a tournament. The Lady Red Hawks took with them some momentum, winning five out of the last six matches in the two weeks leading up to this tournament.
The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks made their way to Sabetha on Thursday evening. The Sabetha Lady Bluejays hosted a Triangular that also included the Rossville Lady Bulldogs.
The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks hosted its home opener to visiting teams from Jefferson West and Rossville on Tuesday evening.
The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawk volleyball team hit the ground running this fall season at the Big East League Volleyball Triangular event on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Despite some strong plays from everyone involved, the Red Hawks were defeated by the Holton Wild Cats at 25-12 in both sets and the Perry-Lecompton Kaws at 25-21 in the first set and 25-15 in the second set.
The Hiawatha High School Lady Red Hawk softball team batted hard and played hard as they beat the Riley County Lady Falcons in both games on Thursday, April 3, with the Red Hawks scoring 10-9 and 7-5 that evening.
The Hiawatha Red Hawk Girls Softball team started their season by taking on the St. Mary’s Lady Bears. They played a double header and won both games by a score of 1-0 and 9-1. The Lady Red Hawks had seven innings of not only great pitching by Junior Adison Williams, but perfect defense behind her. They held the Lady Bears scoreless the first game. Adison Williams struck out 10 batters. Junior Kenzie Nelson had a strong showing behind the plate getting an important pick to keep the momentum in the Lady Red Hawks favor. She also led the team with nine putouts. On offense, Junior Claire Twombly led the team in hitting by going three for three at the plate along with Kenzie Nelson hitting a double.
The Lady Red Hawks (11-8, 5-5) opened Sub State play on Thursday, Feb. 27. The round house was rockin’, as the Lady Red Hawks defeated The West Franklin Lady Falcons (7-14, 3-6). The final score was 57-40.
The Lady Red Hawks (8-6, 4-4), were home on Tuesday evening. They were beaten by the Holton Lady Wildcats (7-8, 5-5). The final score was 61-34.
