
Lady Red Hawks place sixth at Marysville Invitational
The Hiawatha High School Lady Red Hawks girls’ golf team competed at the Marysville Invitational that took place at Western Hills on Thursday, Sept. 25.

The Hiawatha High School Lady Red Hawks girls’ golf team competed at the Marysville Invitational that took place at Western Hills on Thursday, Sept. 25.

The Hiawatha High School Lady Red Hawk volleyball team traveled to Riley County High School to take on the Nemaha Central’s Thunder and Riley County’s own team, the Falcons. Despite Hiawatha’s best efforts and even coming close to winning some sets, it was defeated by both schools; Nemaha Central defeated the Red Hawks at sets of 17-25 and 22-25 and Riley County narrowly won with sets of 22-25 and 23-25.

The 2025 Hiawatha Invitational Varsity Volleyball Tournament took place on Saturday, Sept. 20. Fans packed the roundhouse, where the Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks took center stage and delivered a strong showing, finishing the day with an impressive third-place overall finish.

The Lady Red Hawks competed at the triangular taking place at St. Marys on Thursday, Sept. 18, where they took on the St. Marys and Jefferson West Teams.

The Hiawatha Red Hawks hit the road Friday night for their third game of the season, taking on the Sabetha Bluejays, who entered the matchup ranked No. 4 in Class 2A by MaxPreps. Despite a strong effort, the Red Hawks came up short, falling 15-0 in a defensive battle.

The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks hosted its home opener to visiting teams from Jefferson West and Rossville on Tuesday evening.

The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks scored four victories in the volleyball tournament that took place at Nemaha Central on Saturday, Sept. 13.

In picture-perfect late-summer weather, Memorial Stadium was packed and roaring as the Hiawatha Red Hawks seized their first win of the season, a 35-16 decision over the Marysville Bulldogs in the season’s second home football game. The crowd stayed loud from kickoff to the final horn, feeding a night that delivered crisp offense, gritty defense, and alert special-teams play from both squads. Temperatures were ideal with clear skies and almost no wind, perfect for a fast track and clean execution throughout.
