The Lady Red Hawks scored a major victory at home over the Rossville Lady Bulldogs on Thursday evening on May 8, with the total score being 9-5.
It was a difficult struggle at home at the Noble Park baseball field for the Hiawatha Red Hawk baseball team as they were defeated by the Rossville Bulldogs on Thursday night on May 8. The Bulldogs beat the Red Hawks at a total score of 23-2.
Througout the week of May 9, people passing through downtown Hiawatha might have noticed some windows had messages painted in green paint such as “Healing is a journey.”
The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk baseball varsity team has faced a tough season so far, and their clash with the Thunder team at Nemaha Valley resulted in a loss the baseball game that took place on Monday, May 5. The overall confrontation resulted in an overall score of 7-17, with the Thunder team taking the win.

The Hiawatha Lady Red Hawks were at home last Thursday night. They played a double header against the Holton Lady Wildcats. The Lady Red Hawks were hoping to turn the corner in the season with a victory. The Lady Wildcats came into the contest on a nice streak of winning three of their last four games. The Lady Red Hawks struggled to score runs against the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Wildcats pitching was exceptional. The ball seemed to be very alive and found the strike zone with regularity. The Lady Red Hawks could only muster six hits for the game. They also stranded three of those runners on base. The Lady Wildcats combined numerous base hits with minimal fielding errors to run away with the game. The final score was 2-13 in favor of the Lady Wildcats. A bright spot in the game was Michaela Williams who went 2-for-3, with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
