The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk football team traveled to Jefferson West High School on Friday, Sept. 26. The Jeff West Tigers were hosting their own homecoming during the event. After the homecoming ceremonies, both teams clashed into each other. Unfortunately for the Red Hawks, they lost on Jeff West’s own turf at 7-12 despite doing their best and matching the rival team’s strength and resilience until the very end.

Cheerleading captivates millions of participants. Statista Research says roughly 3.8 million Americans age six and older participated in cheerleading in 2023, which was up from 3.5 million a year earlier. According to Cheer Canada, the nation’s governing body of cheerleading, the sport has more than 400 schools and clubs and roughly 25,000 participants across the country.
