Happy Belated Labor Day – the day that we celebrate workers for all that they do to enrich our lives – and, in reality, to keep us going in life. Just think about how much we depend on each other. Pick up any object, and reflect on who all is necessary in the process of getting it to us and taking care of it for us. Whew.

The US Highway 36 Treasure Hunt will start on Thursday, Sept. 18 and will run until Saturday, Sept. 20.

The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk football team traveled to Nemaha Central on Friday, Aug. 29 to participate in a football jamboree.

The Red Hawk football team will be charging onto the field this upcoming fall season. Despite some of the heavy falls they took last year, the Red Hawk team--coached by Wyatt Jiru--are gearing up to take on the upcoming competition starting this upcoming Friday at home versus Royal Valley.


The Lady Red Hawks return to the volleyball court this year. Although the team will be missing Maddy Simmons--who was last year’s senior player and who was nominated to the Big East All League Honorable Mention--seniors Adison Wiliams, Claire Twombly, Kaeleigh Ruckman and Quinn Boye, junior Kyndall Nelson and sophomore Brynnan Boye will be the six players turning from last year’s varsity roster to help lead the Lady Red Hawks’ volleyball season.
