A sports legend who was born in Hiawatha was the subject of a presentation presented in two Atchison schools by an author and professor from the Kansas City Art Institute on Friday, Feb. 28.
The Lady Red Hawks played valiantly at Wellsville on Tuesday evening, but were beaten by the Wellsville Lady Eagles after a tough defensive battle. The total score from the event was 33-39.
The Red Hawks placed fourth at the Atchison County High School Talking Tigers Invitational on Saturday, March 1.
Sophomore and eighth grade students attended Reality-U on Friday, Feb. 28 at the high school. Reality-U is a simulation hosted by Patrick Sehl, Jr.

Excited students and staff were gathered at the hallways of Hiawatha High School as three high-profile Red Hawk wrestlers--Gary Johnson and Brenner Lowe--were accompanied by a drumline to celebrate them traveling to Salina to compete at the wrestling match at Fort Hays University as part of the wrestling co-op composed of the Red Hawks, Doniphan West High School and Troy Public Schools.
The Red Hawk Scholar’s Bowl team hosted a dinner banquet on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
The Hiawatha Red Hawks Boys Basketball (9-11, 5-5) season came to an end Friday night. They lost to the Osage City Indians (13-7, 6-4) in the first round of Sub State. The game was played in Osage City. The final score was 68-59.
