HCVB to host annual meeting taking place on Feb. 3
Hiawatha Chamber and Visitors Bureau will holds its annual meeting next week at the Fisher Center on Monday, Feb. 3.

Hiawatha’s Arrow Twin Theatre presents two new films
Hiawatha’s Arrow Twin Theatre is currently showing two new must-see movies. The movies are “Brave the Dark” directed by Damian Harris and rated PG-13, and a reboot of the classic 1941 motion picture, “Wolf Man,” directed by Leigh Whannell and rated R.

Community Blood Center comes to Hiawatha
Community Blood Center (CBC) is the primary provider of blood and blood components to 70 plus hospitals and medical centers in the Greater Kansas City region. CBC will conduct a life-saving blood drive on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

City commission holds special meeting on Jan. 29
The city commission met briefly on Wednesday afternoon to vote and approve setting the cost of project bonds for different city projects.

Brown County Conservation District holds annual meeting
The Brown County Conservation District will be holding their traditional Annual Meeting with a meal, sponsored by the Bank of Blue Valley. We will present the 2024 Banker’s Awards. The meeting will be Wednesday Feb. 19, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Alley, located at 1000 S 1st St. in Hiawatha. We will conduct the business of the 2024 Annual Meeting at that time and elect one supervisor at that time.

City of Hiawatha mayor proclaims Scout Week
Mayor Becky Shamburg proclaimed that the week of Feb. 2 through Feb. 8 will be Scout Week.

Lady Red Hawks Win First Round Game
The Lady Red Hawks are playing host at the Hiawatha High School Girls Invitational Tournament. Schools joining Hiawatha are Troy, St Marys, Lafayette, Marysville and Jackson Heights. The Lady Red Hawks got off to a winning start in their opening game against the Jackson Height Lady Cobras. The final score was 51-18.
