Hiawatha’s Haunted Happenings featuring Halloween fun and frolic
Hiawatha is almost a week away from celebrating its 111th Hiawatha Halloween Frolic happening from Oct. 29-31. Hiawatha is famous for being named “Halloweentown” as the local culture of celebrating Halloween beginning 111 years ago thanks to Hiawatha resident Elizabeth Krebs for inspiring the Frolic. Krebs also made Hiawatha the site of being the United States’ oldest Halloween parade by holding a party for kids of Hiawatha on the night of Halloween, with the children dressing in costumes and decorating their trikes and receiving small awards and cookies.
