The Doniphan West High School softball team wrapped up their 2025 season with a strong showing at the Class 2-1A Regional Tournament in Onaga. The Lady Mustangs opened regional play on May 19 with a solid 7-3 quarterfinal win over Republic County. The following day, they faced the host team, Onaga, in a tough semifinal matchup and fell by a score of 2-8. Doniphan West ends the season with a 10-11 overall record.
HIGHLAND, KS – Highland Community College (HCC) is pleased to announce the successful resolution of a Settlement Agreement with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), originally executed on August 28, 2023. The agreement addressed allegations that Black students at HCC experienced discriminatory treatment related to the College’s disciplinary procedures, campus security practices and its response to discrimination complaints.
The Doniphan West High School track and field team continued its strong spring season with outstanding performances at the Nemaha Central Invitational on May 6 and the Jefferson County North Invitational on May 9. Across both meets, the Mustangs tallied numerous top finishes and set two new school records.

The Doniphan West Junior High track teams turned in another impressive week of performances, competing in back-to-back meets at Centralia on Monday, May 5, and at the Oregon Trail League (OTL) Championship on Thursday, May 8, in Frankfort. The Mustangs showed consistency, depth, and championship grit across both meets.
Doniphan West pulled off a thrilling 21-20 walk-off victory over Valley Heights on Monday, April 28. With the game tied in the bottom of the seventh, Jaidyn Smith singled to drive in the winning run.
DWHS varsity Mustangs held off a late surge to secure a 9-7 win over ACCHS on Saturday, May 3. The Mustangs built a five-run lead by the third inning and stayed ahead despite a strong comeback attempt.
