City of Horton hosts CDBG Housing Application Public Hearing
The City of Horton confirmed during their Monday, Oct. 6 meeting that it has closed out the Economic Development Grant for Small Businesses and eligible to submit a housing application.

It’s time for Fall Cleanup! There will be dumpsters in the vacant lot south of City Hall at the corner of 1st Avenue East and 7th Street, beginning Friday evening, Oct. 10 until the morning of Monday, Oct. 20.

Mission Lake campers meet with City of Horton about yearly lake rental fee increase
Several Mission Lake campers met with the City of Horton on Monday, Sept. 15 to discuss a proposed yearly lake rental free increase.

Senior Moments
The Horton Senior Citizens were sponsors of the Brown County Senior Social along with other sponsors from the Hiawatha area on Sept. 25. Horton area supporters were Aged Goodness, Pizza Bakery, 1st Option Bank, Central Auto Parts, Horton Thriftway, Maximum Insurance, Kidwell Chiropractic, Schlagel Popcorn, Lentz Express, American Family, Union State Bank, NEK Home Health and Hospice, and two new businesses, Vilma’s Cafe, and Dejavu Vintage Treasures & More. Many thanks for their support for a very successful event!

Friends of Hospice volunteers meet on Sept. 24
The monthly meeting of the Friends of Hospice Volunteers was held on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at the Horton Library. Those in attendance were President Rosemary Schooler, Secretary Betty Robison, Nancy Burns, Charlene Branch, Dixie Westervelt, Social Worker Kendra Cowley and Volunteer Coordinator Michelle Bottom.


Senior Moments
The Horton Senior Citizens have had a wonderfully busy week. We continue to have Drums Alive. This is a really fun exercise group for seniors. We still have room for others to join in. We meet on Mondays at 9 a.m. at the Senior Center. Drums will also be performed at this Thursdays Brown County Senior Social on Sept. 25th!
