WICHITA, Kan. (February 18, 2025) - Wichita State University has announced the names of 3,865 students who were on the WSU Dean’s Honor Roll for fall 2024.

Kansas University in Lawrence retired the jersey of Arthur “Dutch” Lonborg on Saturday, Feb. 22 at its home game against Oklahoma State University.

Horton High School junior Victoria Jelks received a high score while competing at the State Piano Festival at Wichita State University on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Waffles & Worship Women’s Ministry of Church of the Lord Jesus Christ (CLJC) in Horton, welcomes Brooke Vandenbrink Ross of Leavenworth as guest speaker on Saturday, March 1 at 8:30 a.m. The March fellowship will take place at a different location—First Christian Church, 1244 Central, in Horton—due to basement remodeling at CLJC.

It has been a long and quiet week for the members of the Horton Senior Center due to the snow and extreme cold. Being cautious and avoiding any possible accidents we have been staying at home! Our monthly carry in dinner is postponed till Feb. 25 and also all of our activities this week have been put on hold till next week when the weather is supposed to be much warmer. The quote from Proverbs 27:9 states that a sweet friendship refreshes the soul. Missing all our friends this week!

Many of the members of the Horton Senior Center have been staying at home most of this week due to weather conditions and severe cold. Groundhog! Why did you betray us!! Cabin fever is setting in again. We were able to meet on Feb. 11th for our board meeting and coffee group.

Mission Lake Christian Camp at Horton, Kansas will be celebrating 75 years on April 12 at Horton Blue Building 716 1st Ave. in West Horton.

The Horton Senior Citizens assisted the Northeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging deliver shelf stable food boxes to Horton residents on Jan. 23. We do this as one of our community projects that we do through out the year. Students at the Horton High School also come to help. Many thanks to Lori Campbell and her students for helping.

The Horton community mourned the passing an officer for the City of Horton Police Department.
