The Horton Senior Citizens Center is proud to announce that they are one of the sponsors of the upcoming Brown County Senior Social at the Fisher Center in Hiawatha, to be held on Sept. 25. The social will be totally free for all seniors with music, refreshments, door prizes and the KNZA wheel with cash prizes! Join us from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

South Brown County Community Foundation’s 2025 Match Days Break Records: Fuels Local Growth and Community Collaboration

The South Brown County Community Foundation (SBCCF) celebrated its most successful Match Days yet during the Brown County Fair, July 15–17, 2025. Community members and friends of the community gave a record-breaking $155,694.27 in donations, a 35% increase from the previous year.

“It’s a Jungle Out There!” VBS Coming Up!

Join us for an epic three-day jungle cruise, “The Great Jungle Journey” from Genesis to Revelation at Vacation Bible School (VBS), Monday-Wednesday, August 4-6, at Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, 1201 Central in Horton. Kids from age 3-Grade 6 will embark on a fun-filled journey to answer questions such as “Where did I come from; Why am I here, and What is God like?” The journey will be guided by 3 C’s of history: Creation, Corruption and Christ.

The Horton Senior Center members had drinks and treats brought in by our members on Tuesday morning. Our president made a few announcements about upcoming events. Those of us that volunteered to help deliver shelf stable food boxes for Northeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging were reminded to be at the center at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 24. Thank you to Mary Pat and Phillip Jeffery, Laura and Larry Paulsen, and Jerry Holsman and Mary Patterson for volunteering!
