The members of the Horton Senior Center welcomed friends from Vintage Park on Monday, June 9. We had a good time visiting and a big thank you to Patsy Killoren for providing some treats. One member and a visitor took a quick tour of our veterans park.

Three were injured in a rollover crash near Horton on Wednesday evening, according to a report by the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The South Brown County Community Foundation (SBCCF) invites the public to its “Meet Our Nonprofits” event on Saturday, June 21, from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Horton Blue Building, located at 716 1st Ave. W.

The members of the Horton Senior Citizens Center wants to welcome Judith Williams who has volunteered to be our receptionist at the Center. She will be here several days each week to help visitors with any questions they may have or just welcome and visit. Be sure to drop in and welcome her!

Several candidates running for city and school board positions in Brown County.

Slavery and abortion are two controversial topics that have shaped our values as a society. Both of these topics evoke strong emotions and have sparked numerous debates throughout history. While slavery and abortion have a few fundamental differences, they are honestly a lot similar than people realize. Both raise many questions and concerns pertaining to individual rights of a person and the value of a human life.

The Horton Senior Citizens held their monthly board meeting and carry in meal on May 20. It was decided at the meeting to have a fund raiser to help pay for the monthly operating expenses at the Center. We will be serving beef burgers, chips of your choice, a beverage of your choice, and cookies during the Car Show, Farmers Market and city wide garage sales on May 31 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are located in downtown Horton at 116 W. 8th St.

The members of the Horton Senior Center saw a true story “Sound of Hope” during Movie Nite on Thursday, May 8 at the Center. Thank you to Shirley Foster for bringing the movie for us.
